How to Book a Komodo National Park Permit Under the 2026 Quota
Arrange Komodo park access through SiOra or your operator, confirm the booking details and understand what the 2026 quota means for your trip.

Arrange Komodo National Park access before departure through the official SiOra channel or an operator handling the reservation for you. Ask for confirmation covering every traveller, visit date and planned activity. A boat booking alone is not proof that park access is confirmed.
Official notices reviewed 22 September 2026. Check availability and departure-specific requirements again before paying.
For a date-specific product comparison, review the komodo tour 3 days 2 nights and confirm the operating boat, included charges and availability before paying.
This guide covers the reservation decision and the evidence to request. For the destination itself, start with our Komodo National Park guide; for charges, use the separate park fees guide.
What the official quota notice says

The Ministry of Forestry’s 15 April 2026 announcement states a daily limit of 1,000 visitors effective from 1 April. It identifies Komodo, Rinca and Padar, including 23 surrounding dive sites, as the focus of the policy. Do not interpret that statement as 1,000 places for each island.
The announcement is not a live availability calendar. It does not establish that a particular boat holds transferable guest places or that changing islands automatically creates capacity. Ask for confirmation for your actual departure rather than relying on a seller’s general statement about the quota.
Who should handle the reservation?
| Arrangement | Action before paying | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| Organised boat trip | Ask whether the operator submits the reservation and collects official charges. | Written inclusions, required guest details, deadline and confirmation status. |
| Private charter | Agree who handles access for the proposed route; chartering a boat does not answer this automatically. | Named responsibility for booking, route changes and any additional charges. |
| Self-managed reservation | Use the official channel and coordinate with your transport provider before paying. | Accepted booking and payment records matching the planned visit. |
Avoid duplicate reservations. Tell the operator if you have already started a booking yourself and ask how the two arrangements should be reconciled.
What to confirm with your operator
- Who is responsible? Identify the business handling park registration and the contact for corrections.
- What is included? Separate boat fare, official charges, guiding and any booking or handling fee.
- What visit is being registered? Match the dates, visitor gateways and activities against the written itinerary.
- What is the current status? Distinguish a request or provisional plan from a confirmed reservation.
- What information is required? Ask for the exact identity fields and submission deadline. Send documents through the agreed business channel only when needed.
- What happens if access changes? Get the route substitution, rebooking and refund terms before the balance is due.
Keep the replies with your invoice. If a message says only “permit included,” ask whether it refers to the price, the operator’s responsibility or an already completed reservation.
Using the official channel

The park’s own tariff and visitor-capacity page links to SiOra. Begin there rather than following a sponsored result that merely uses the park’s name. The Ministry describes SiOra as the park’s reservation and e-ticketing system, with additional services for special permissions.
- Confirm the intended dates and activities with the transport provider.
- Follow the current official booking instructions and supply the information requested for each traveller.
- Review the dates, names, selected activities and payable items before submitting payment.
- Check that payment and reservation are accepted; a bank transfer record alone may not show the final booking status.
- Save the issued confirmation offline and ask what must be presented at check-in.
These are preparation checks, not a screen-by-screen walkthrough. Interface labels and payment options can change. If the system is unclear, contact the park through its official website or ask your operator to resolve the issue before departure.
How early should you arrange access?
The Ministry’s SiOra launch notice reports guidance to reserve no later than H-1, the day before visiting, partly because connectivity inside the area can be difficult. That is not a promise that capacity will remain available until then.
Begin coordinating earlier when flights, a particular cabin or a fixed departure matter. There is no single verified booking window that fits every vessel and season. Before making non-refundable commitments, establish what is confirmed and what cancellation exposure remains.
Save the issued booking file or confirmation in a form that opens without mobile data. Check it before leaving shore, keep the device charged and protected from spray, and ask whether an additional printed copy is useful.
If your preferred visit is unavailable
Ask the operator or official booking support which alternatives can actually be confirmed. Possibilities to discuss include a different date or a revised itinerary, but neither is guaranteed. Check new transport costs and cancellation terms before accepting a change.
If a route changes from Komodo Island to Rinca, confirm the visitor gateway, activities and any booking amendment. Do not accept a promise of better dragon sightings as a substitute for clear reservation details.
A different season also means different weather considerations. Use the seasonal planning guide rather than assuming all alternative dates have identical conditions. Do not travel to the harbour relying on an unconfirmed last-minute exception.
Keep booking responsibility separate from price
An operator can arrange the reservation while billing official charges separately. Equally, an inclusive quote should specify which dates and activities its park-charge allowance covers. Request an itemised amount and reconcile it with the current park fee breakdown.
Do not assume a route name establishes one fixed ticket price. Ask what changes if a site, activity, guest category or number of visiting days changes. This page does not replace the fee schedule or the terms attached to your booking.
Tourist tickets and special permissions
A normal visitor reservation should not be treated as permission for every activity. The Ministry identifies separate SiOra services for SIMAKSI and activities such as research, drone flights and commercial work. Explain any special purpose to the park before travelling and obtain the applicable approval.
A drone in your luggage, a camera booking or a vessel operator’s verbal agreement does not itself establish permission. Keep the relevant approval with your other trip records.
Frequently asked questions
Can I leave the reservation until arrival?
Plan on advance reservation and confirmed access. The official guidance reviewed here recommends booking by the day before. Do not assume a same-day counter or exception will be available for your visit.
Which identity documents do I need?
Ask the official channel or responsible operator for the current requirements for your nationality and guest category. Check that submitted names match the required identity document, and confirm what to carry at check-in.
Does my boat booking guarantee park entry?
No. Ask separately whether the park reservation is confirmed for the intended visit, even when official charges are included in the boat price.
What happens if the trip is cancelled?
Check both the operator’s commercial terms and the rules applying to the park reservation. Do not assume a refund or a date transfer follows automatically from cancellation of the boat.
Do liveaboard guests need to check access?
Yes. Sleeping aboard does not establish an exemption from the booking requirements for visited sites and activities. Have the operator confirm the plan for the full itinerary.
Put the confirmed visit into your travel plan
Compare trip lengths, review arrival logistics, then match the reservation to a tour format and the actual vessel. Keep dates and responsibilities consistent across every confirmation.
Reservation proof: distinguish four stages
| Message you receive | What it does and does not prove |
|---|---|
| Boat inquiry or availability screenshot | Shows a sales conversation, not a held cabin or park visit. |
| Boat invoice and deposit receipt | Shows a commercial booking or payment, not necessarily an issued SiOra reservation. |
| Reservation submission or payment instruction | Shows the request is in process; verify it has been accepted. |
| Issued park confirmation or operator’s verified record | Check names, date, visitor category, sites and activities with the operator. |
Ask who corrects a spelling error or guest change before you submit identity details. If you arrange an independent reservation, tell the boat operator so the same visit is not accidentally booked twice under conflicting details. Keep the official record offline because signal at sea is uncertain. The park’s tariff page links to the official SiOra site; start from that authority page when checking a new booking interface.
Do not infer “permit included” means the operator already holds a transferable slot. The Ministry’s 15 April 2026 announcement states the park-wide daily limit; the 24 April follow-up says capacity may be reevaluated. Neither ministry release provides a cabin-level availability calendar. For a 3D2N route, ask which of your itinerary days and visitor gateways the operator will actually register.
Competitor permit content sometimes says all walk-ins are impossible, all permits are non-refundable or exactly two to three days of advance notice is mandatory. Those universal conditions are not established by the official material reviewed here. Use the current SiOra rules and written operator terms for your transaction. Official advance guidance of at least the day before is a minimum timing recommendation, not an availability promise.
