Blackbeard at a Glance

Blackbeard is a 30-metre traditional phinisi operating private charters and shared trips from Labuan Bajo through Komodo National Park. It accommodates up to 16 guests in seven air-conditioned cabins, including two suite categories with private balconies.

The teak-and-ironwood vessel has a 5.1-metre beam, a published cruising speed of 8–10 knots, a Mitsubishi 6D22 main engine, approximately 7,000 litres of freshwater capacity and 2,000 litres of fuel capacity. Navigation equipment includes a compass, GPS, maps and SSB radio.

Seven Cabins for 16 Guests

The standard layout has one Royal Suite for two guests, two Panoramic Suites for two guests each, three Deluxe Cabins for two guests each and one four-person Sharing Cabin. These standard occupancies total the published vessel maximum of 16 guests.

The Royal Suite has a queen bed, private bathroom, private balcony, air conditioning and sea views. Each Panoramic Suite has a queen bed, private bathroom, private balcony, air conditioning and sea views. The three Deluxe Cabins each have a queen bed, air conditioning, sea views and shared-bathroom access. The Sharing Cabin has one queen bed and two single beds, air conditioning, sea views and shared-bathroom access.

A general facilities paragraph describes en-suite bathrooms broadly, but the current cabin table specifically lists shared bathrooms for the Deluxe and Sharing categories. The listing follows the more detailed cabin table; guests should confirm the exact allocation in writing.

Dining, Decks and Water Activities

Shared areas include a spacious dining room and outdoor chill areas with daybeds. Full-board meals and free-flow mineral water, tea, coffee and milk are published onboard.

Snorkelling equipment and a canoe support water activities, while a Yamaha 40 HP speedboat is listed for transfers and shore visits. Safety equipment includes life jackets and a liferaft. Blackbeard is presented primarily as a leisure phinisi rather than a dedicated scuba-diving liveaboard.

Shared and Private Komodo Trips

Published programmes cover 2 days 1 night and 3 days 2 nights. Shared 3D2N departures are commonly scheduled from Monday and Friday, while private dates remain subject to availability. The published operating period is March through December.

The standard 3D2N route combines Kelor Island, Manjarite, Kalong Island, Padar Island, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Manta Point, Taka Makassar and Sebayur. The skipper may change the order for weather, currents, wildlife and park conditions.

Pricing and Inclusions

The primary charter page currently lists private-charter pricing as “Ask for price”. A current secondary source publishes shared-trip rates from IDR 3,550,000 per person for the Sharing Cabin, IDR 4,250,000 for a Deluxe Cabin, IDR 5,750,000 for a Panoramic Suite and IDR 6,050,000 for the Royal Suite, with a minimum of two guests. Structured pricing is intentionally left blank because the primary page does not publish a confirmed charter total and the site pricing fields use a different currency context.

Published inclusions cover onboard accommodation, meals, drinking water, coffee, tea and milk, a guide, raw photo and video documentation, snorkelling equipment, life jackets and mainland Labuan Bajo hotel or airport transfers. National-park fees, flights, crew gratuities, personal expenses, snacks and separately ordered drinks are excluded.
