Day one runs Kelor for the trek, Manjarite for snorkelling and Kalong at sunset for the flying foxes. Day two is the full day: Padar trek, Long Pink Beach, the ranger-led dragon walk on Komodo Island, then Taka Makassar and Manta Ray Point. Day three closes at Kanawa before returning. Departures are Friday to Sunday and Monday to Wednesday.

    Who This Suits

    Suits: families and mixed groups working to a budget. The family cabin takes four in one room, the two masters take three each, and the bunk cabin is on the upper deck with a view rather than buried below. Sixteen guests across six cabins at deluxe pricing is materially cheaper per head than the luxury tier.

    Also worth knowing: tax and fuel surcharge are inside the quoted price, and open trips run without a minimum quota, so a solo traveller still sails.

    Less suited to: divers, since there is no compressor, nitrox or dive guide listed and the onboard entertainment is karaoke rather than a dive deck. Also not the boat for anyone expecting luxury finish, as she is classed deluxe rather than luxury by the agents selling her.

    About This Vessel

    Sea Familia 2 is a 36.35-metre phinisi built in 2018 from ulin and teak. The operator publishes capacity for 16 guests across six cabins: two Master Cabins, three Deluxe Twin Cabins and one Family Cabin. It is a separate vessel from the smaller Sea Familia, despite the similar name.

    The two Master Cabins sleep up to three guests each. Three Deluxe Cabins use twin beds and sleep two each. The Family Cabin combines a double bed and bunk arrangement for up to four guests. This configuration totals six cabins and a nominal capacity of 16, matching the operator’s current specification.

    For Komodo leisure charters, the operator publishes nightly tiers of IDR 52,000,000 for 1–10 guests, IDR 58,500,000 for 11–12 and IDR 62,400,000 for 13–14, plus IDR 3,000,000 per extra bed per day. A current mandatory fuel surcharge of IDR 2,500,000 per day applies to new bookings. For a full 16-guest three-day/two-night Komodo charter, the normalized total is IDR 144,300,000, approximately US$8,060 at the project conversion rate. National park and local retribution fees remain excluded.

    • A 1,000-visitor daily quota has applied since 1 April 2026 to the main visitor islands and 23 dive sites. Availability therefore depends on the travel date and registered itinerary.
    • The final SiOra total can include entrance, activity, vessel and special-use charges. Ask the handling operator for an itemised total before issuance.
    • Official public guidance does not state one universal refund or rescheduling rule for every reservation. Confirm the current SiOra terms in writing before the ticket is issued, including treatment of weather disruption.

    Statutory fees under Peraturan Pemerintah No. 36 Tahun 2024, in force since 30 October 2024. Verified 31 August 2026 against the official PP 36/2024 schedule, the Ministry of Forestry SiOra notice and the Ministry’s 2026 quota notice. Amounts are payable in rupiah; dollar figures are courtesy estimates converted at Rp 17,900 and rounded.

    Is Sea Familia 2 the same boat as Sea Familia?

    No, and this is a common mix-up. Sea Familia is 25 metres, built 2019 and refitted in Labuan Bajo in 2021, with six cabins for twelve guests. Sea Familia 2 is 36.35 metres, built 2018, with six cabins for sixteen. Agents list them under similar names and the specifications get swapped regularly, so confirm the length and capacity when booking.

    What are the cabins like?

    Six in total. Two master cabins on the main deck with a double plus extra bed, balcony and bathtub, taking two to three guests each. Two deluxe twins on the lower deck. One bunk cabin on the upper deck with an ocean view. One family cabin below with a queen bed and a bunk for up to four.

    When do the open trips depart?

    Fridays and Mondays, on a three day two night rotation. Open trips are sold per cabin, so a single booking still sails without waiting for a minimum group.

    Are park fees included?

    No. Komodo National Park entrance tickets and ranger fees are excluded, along with tips and personal expenses. The 1.1 per cent tax and the fuel surcharge, however, are already inside the quoted rate.

    Can we dive from Sea Familia 2?

    Not as a scheduled programme. No compressor, nitrox or dive guide appears in her specification. Snorkelling gear and life jackets are included and the itinerary covers the main snorkelling sites.
